Embers Of A Haunted Night

On All Hallows’ Eve, when the velvet night falls,And whispering shadows creep up on the walls,A rumble awakes from a cavern of old,Where red amber embers glow hotter than gold.

No breath of cold mist, nor a ghost in the air,Can match the bright dread of the beast in his lair.He draws in a breath, deep and ancient and slow,And ignites a wild spark in the darkness below.

Then out bursts the flame! A magnificent bright,A river of scarlet that tears through the night. It paints every jack-o’-lantern in gold,And wakens the stories that winter once told.

It leaps over rooftops, a dragon’s hot sigh,Casting wings made of cinder across the dark sky.The witches halt mid-flight, the ghouls freeze in place,To gaze at the dragon’s fierce, shimmering grace.

For Halloween’s magic is eerie and chill,Until the great serpent breathes fire on the hillA flash of wild wonder, a warm crackling glare,That fills the spooky night air with a fiery flair.Lindsey Rose
